A Melbourne based Zydeco band, with George Butrumlis on Piano Accordion & vocals, Alan Wright, bass & vocals, Ken Farmer rub-board, & others. Playing great Zydeco music, but not often enough. I have a great time playing with these guys at the Lomond Hotel, with my rub-board and Cajun triangle. |

Lisa Haley and the Zydekats from California in USA. Lisa and her Zydekats devote themselves to joyful, original, traditional and contemporary dance music. I had the privilege to met Lisa and her band and dance to their great music at Kalamazoo in Michigan USA. Lisa plays on a wonderful electric blue fiddle. |

California Zydeco music with Andre Thierry on Cajun accordion who has been touched by the legendary accordion king Clifton Chenier and a cousin of the Delafose family. Reared in southwest Louisiana he has Zydeco roots in his body. On washboard, Steve Nash from Houston Texas, nephew of Clifton Chenier. I had the pleasure to met and learn to Zydeco dance with this band and took part in a rub-board workshop with Steve Nash at the Cajun/Creole festival in West Virginia, USA. |

A Canberra based band playing Zydeco and Cajun music - good fun to dance to. They performed at the 2002 National Folk Festival in Canberra, and regularly play around Canberra. Band leader is Baz Cooper. I had fun playing with them at Ausgrass one year and the National Folk Festival in 2004. Also recently in 2006 where they played for my Zydeco Dance workshop and a Zydeco dance at night where I danced and played in the band. |

This band has been playing in Sydney since 1999, with its infectious Zydeco rhythms. Geoff Tofler has been influenced by some of the greats in Cajun music while living in Boston USA. He visited Louisiana many times and on his return to Australia, established the band. I met Geoffrey through a Zydeco Cajun site on the www (World Wide Web) and when he came to Melbourne. An impressive musician, who I saw playing at Festivals Acadiens. Playing great Zydeco dance music and also traditional Cajun music which puts Geno in the ‘greats’ of Cajun music. I also danced to his music at Frank Ranch in Lawtell, Louisiana with his band ‘French Rockin’ Boogie”, and I was lucky to met and talk with him. One of the true greats of Zydeco music. |
